I got lost in the labyrinth of Instagram and found myself at the cyber doors of Brown Estate Vineyards (Napa Valley's first Black-owned estate winery) and with the Egyptian scarab as their logo (great minds think alike) I knew I was in for something dope. As I clicked my way to the shop, I immediately noticed the sleek label that donned a gold gilded beetle in various gemstone colors (very majestic) and classic type that simple stated "Brown" front & center. While I navigated the online store a white wine called Betelgeuse caught my eye. It's described as "endless summer in a bottle" and I was super stoked to try it. The site was easy to navigate and they provided tasting notes, background & specs for each wine.

The Brown's family history in wine making started back in 1980 when their parents bought an abandoned ranch in the eastern hills of Napa Valley. They rehabbed the structure and started planting "viniferous" grapes and sold to local winemakers. In 1995 the next generation decided to make wine too. The Brown Estate was established in 1996 and the rest is smashed grapes! LOL

President Denise Brown, Winegrower David Brown & Director/Brand Manager Coral Brown have had much success with BE, they presented at ZAP (Zinfandel Advocates & Producers) Grand Tasting and have bottled 20 vintage wines thus far. Also in April 2017 the Browns expanded with the debut of Brown Downtown an outpost location in downtown Napa.
